Recently, the "2022 Provincial Standardized Management Water Conservancy Projects" list was announced in Shandong Province, with the Tuhai River Bashang Sluice in Zhanhua District and the Qinkou River Xiawa Sluice in Binzhou making the list. In 2022, relevant departments in Zhanhua District developed these two sluices in accordance with national and provincial standards for standardized management of water conservancy projects. Several projects were implemented, including the construction of water culture parks and water culture exhibition halls. Intelligent monitoring systems were also designed and installed for the sluices. Toehold Technology, as a provider of intelligent monitoring systems for civil engineering structures, undertook the intelligent monitoring projects for both sluices.


Monitoring site
The project utilizes a machine vision-based intelligent measurement system to conduct high-precision real-time monitoring of surface settlement displacement and horizontal displacement of the sluices. This enables real-time collection, transmission, calculation, and analysis of monitoring data. Management authorities can intuitively review historical changes in the monitoring data via a cloud platform and keep track of the sluices' operational status in real time. This provides essential support for effective and safe sluice management, ensuring the secure operation and full utilization of the water conservancy projects.

Intelligent Vision measurement system workflow
The Intelligent Vision measurement system, based on IoT technology and intelligent disaster recognition algorithms, converts video data into deformation data. It enables sub-pixel and sub-millimeter precision monitoring of various water conservancy infrastructures such as reservoirs, dams, and sluices. The system complies with the "Hydrological Monitoring Data Communication Protocol" issued by the Ministry of Water Resources and can intelligently transmit data to third-party platforms. It has been included in the "2022 Key Promotion Guide for Advanced Practical Water Conservancy Technologies" by the Ministry of Water Resources and has been applied in multiple national water conservancy standardization construction projects.
